A Whoville Christmas to Remember: The 2024 PHS Client Christmas Party

The Progressive Housing Society (PHS) Client Christmas Party is always a highlight of the year, and 2024 was no exception. On December 11, our community came together to celebrate the season with over 100 clients and 30 staff members in attendance. The atmosphere was brimming with holiday cheer, heartfelt connections, and a touch of Whoville magic!

This year’s theme, inspired by Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, transformed the space into a whimsical winter wonderland. A beautifully decorated tree adorned with Grinch and Whoville-themed ornaments took center stage, while each table featured centerpieces styled as colorful Whoville presents. Adding to the charm, an activity station included festive trivia, coloring pages, and crosswords, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Guests were treated to a delicious sit-down lunch featuring turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and all the trimmings—a meal that truly captured the warmth and tradition of the holidays. A cozy hot chocolate station was a big hit, offering a sweet and comforting way to enjoy the day.

The party buzzed with laughter and excitement thanks to the festive games. Holiday Bingo got everyone involved, while a lively singing game brought tables together in spirited competition. The MC would call out a Christmas-themed word, and tables had to belt out a song featuring that word—it was a joyous cacophony of holiday spirit!

Adding a special touch to the event, The Grinch himself made an appearance! Our green, grouchy guest mingled with the crowd, posed for photos, and spread his unique brand of holiday mischief. Meanwhile, a projector quietly played The Grinch in the background, adding another layer of festive fun to the atmosphere.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible generosity of our community partners. A heartfelt thank you goes to Whole Foods, whose generous donation of 15 beautifully curated gift baskets added excitement and joy to the day. These baskets, filled with a mix of personal care items and holiday treats, were given as door prizes, sparking smiles and gratitude from our clients.

The Client Christmas Party is more than just a holiday celebration; it’s a time for the clients we support with mental health services to come together, connect, and create lasting memories. For many, this event is a cherished tradition that they look forward to all year.

As we reflect on the joy and connection shared at this year’s event, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make it possible—from the staff who gave their time and energy, to our community partners, and most importantly, to our clients, whose laughter and warmth truly made the day unforgettable.
