Ministries of Families, Children and Social Development
- by PHS
Since its inception in 2007, Progressive Housing Society has forged a robust partnership with the Government of Canada, marked by significant milestones such as the acquisition of our Outreach Van and the development of our Mobile Outreach program. This collaboration, bolstered by ongoing support and funding from both federal and provincial governments, has empowered us to extend essential services and support to the most vulnerable segments of our community. Our efforts are geared towards creating a future where safe and affordable housing is accessible to every individual and family in need.
In a recent highlight of our journey, we were honored to host Jean-Yves Duclos, the Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development. The Minister’s visit to one of our market rental houses in Burnaby and New Westminster, British Columbia, provided a valuable opportunity for firsthand insights into the dedication and hard work our team invests in combating and mitigating homelessness. This occasion was not only a testament to our ongoing efforts but also a powerful reminder of the critical impact of governmental support in realizing our mission.
We are deeply thankful for the strong backing we have received from the Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development. This support has been instrumental in enhancing our capabilities to serve our community better. A significant milestone in this journey has been the allocation of approximately $2.6 million towards our Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) funding, administered through the Community Entity (CE) Metro Vancouver Regional District. This funding is a leap forward in our mission, enabling us to expand our reach and deepen our impact on homelessness prevention and reduction.
As we look to the future, Progressive Housing Society remains committed to exploring new avenues and opportunities with all levels of government. Our goal is clear: to deliver safe, accessible, and affordable housing solutions that address the needs of individuals and families, paving the way for a community where everyone has a place to call home. Together, with the continued support of our partners and stakeholders, we are set to make enduring strides in our fight against homelessness, one life at a time.
