Progressive Housing Society’s 2025 Mental Health BBQ

On August 20, clients and staff from Progressive Housing Society’s mental health support programs gathered at Confederation Park in Burnaby for an afternoon of connection, laughter, and shared community. The 2025 Mental Health BBQ offered a chance to unwind, catch up, and enjoy some well-deserved fun.
We served up hot dogs and hamburgers while people mingled and enjoyed the sunshine. Guests took part in games, posed in the photobooth, and lined up to test their aim at the dunk tank. Three courageous staff members volunteered to be dunked, and a few players proved to have a surprisingly sharp arm. Some staff found themselves taking multiple dips, to the crowd’s delight.
Events like this remind us how important it is to create space for joy, especially for those working through the challenges of mental health recovery. This day wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our event sponsors, who donated food, prizes, and support to help make it happen. We’re so thankful to:
