Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of the Progressive Housing Society. The Progressive Housing Society will not accept any gift unless it can be used or spent consistently with the purpose and mission of the Progressive Housing Society.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

The Progressive Housing Society will refrain from advising about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.

The Progressive Housing Society will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the Progressive Housing Society.

Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for Progressive Housing Society.

The Progressive Housing Society will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by Progressive Housing Society.

The Progressive Housing Society will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. Regarding anonymous gifts, the Progressive Housing Society will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

The Progressive Housing Society will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders’ fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to the Progressive Housing Society.

2019 Douglas College Career Fair

The team at Progressive Housing Society is always looking to get out there and meet with new people interested in an exciting and changing field. This year we had the pleasure to attend the Douglas College Career Fair! We were excited to network with other organizations that are in the same line of work or simply just curious about inner workings.

Employment Opportunities

For some of those who may not know, the City of Burnaby has been approved to build Permanent Supportive Housing. We are working closely working with the city and BC Housing to build 52 units. BC Housing is to develop and build the units, and Progressive Housing is to maintain and regulate the facility. This project is set to launch as of Spring of 2019.

With that said, we are looking for a handful of individuals to come on aboard. We are in search for passionate individuals who will advocate for our clients for their right to basic needs. The right candidates for this position must have an understanding and sensitivity to work with people who have physical and/or mental health challenges.
